THE SCOTTISH ITALIAN AWARDS REVEALS THE 2017 FINALISTS

The Italian Awards competitions are free to enter and voted for solely by the public. The shortlisted finalists, with the most amount of public nominations, represent the nation's favorites and are now entered in to the judging stage. Over 1500 businesses were nominated and now votes have been counted to find 100 finalists businesses, representing favorites of Scotland. Winners of the Scottish Italian Award will be revealed at the Gala Final on Sunday 12th November in Glasgow. MEET THE PRODUCER - ITALIAN WINE FAIR

On Saturday 11th November 2017 at the Royal Scots Club in Edinburgh from 1pm to 5pm there will be held the 4th edition of Meet the Producer: Italian Wine Fair. Meet the Producer, organised by Bacco Wine in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK and Bite Magazine, brings Italian wine producers to Scotland to meet wine lovers. At the event you will have the opportunity to taste wines from different Italian regions and to talk about production methods, the characteristics of the wines and much more directly with the producers. The Jean Monnet Centre of the University of Manchester will host a debate on Brexit and the potential scenarios for Italian nationals living in UK. Many distinguished speakers will take part to the event,among them MEP Mercedes Bresso (S&D group) and Maurizio Bragagni Westminster italian Conservaties Principle Patron). Myplant&Garden has become the great exhibiting hub for the sector in Italy, a "global space for business and relationships" for the protagonists of the green industry: companies and operators, with their expectations, needs, offers, previews and know-how. ECOBUILD 2018

Ecobuild is the UK's largest event for sustainable construction, home automation, renewable energy and energy efficiency. The fair, welcoming approximately 25,400 visitors each year, 88% of which are managerial level or above, is a unique showcase for the internationalisation of all Italian companies active in the sector. The event will put sustainability firmly at the forefront of the agenda, as it was in the 2017 edition. Moreover, the fair, will be divided in different sectors, each of them dedicated to a different area of building and construction. The areas that will form the fair will be Building Performance and Energy, Design and Build, Timber, Explore Offsite, Concrete, Infrastructure, Green Infrastructure and District Energy. THE RECIPE OF THE MONTH

ONION AND FENNEL SOUP WITH EMMENTAL CROSTONI

Serves 4: 2 yellow onions (200g), 2 large fennel bulbs, stalks removed (800g), 2 potatoes (300g), 25 g butter, 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, salt, 1 tablespoon thyme leaves, freshly ground black pepper, 8 dl chicken broth (or vegetable broth), 30 ml aged brandy ...
Method: Take a heavy-bottomed saucepan and add the butter, olive oil, thyme and onions, peeled and cut into thin rings. Melt the fats and mix well. Cook for 5 minutes adding a pinch of salt to help bring out the water from the onions... Read more....
