Stronger relations between Italy and Scotland

Stronger relations between Italy and Scotland

After several months of discussions, last Wednesday, 21st of February 2018, a delegation from the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK and from the Camera di Commercio Industria Artigianato e Agricoltura di Torino met the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce in Glasgow to continue discussions and sign a historic Memorandum of Understanding aimed to strengthen our relations and to achieve greater economic development and entrepreneurial integration in our respective areas of influence.

The Memorandum was signed by Leonardo Simonelli Santi, President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK, Richard Muir, Deputy Chief Executive of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, and Guido Bolatto, Secretary General of the Turin Chamber of Commerce.

The will to reinforce the relations between the cities originates from the “Investire a Glasgow” report written by the Scottish Branch of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK, and supported by the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and Invest Glasgow, which was presented to the Turin Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor of Turin, Chiara Appendino, last November 2017.

After the meeting, the delegations joined the Lord Provost of Glasgow, Eva Bolander, at the Glasgow City Chambers for a really interesting chat about the fundamental relations between the twin cities of Glasgow and Turin, and the importance of the European Union’s values.
