The Italian Chamber of Commerce is pleased to introduce the sixth edition of the Master in Hospitality and Hotel Management.

During the last few years, the hospitality sector has been subject to numerous significant changes. Increasing competition has forced people working in this sector to find new elements which guarantee them the chance to overcome this competition. Obviously, nowadays, these outstanding elements are human resources. Even though there are rumours about a possible unemployment crisis in this sector, the reality is that this kind of crisis is likely to happen just for not qualified employees. As a matter of fact, the market is constantly seeking people featuring a new concept of hospitality.

The Master in Hospitality and Hotel Management aims to teach students various skills, such as professional, methodological, problem-solving, social and management skills. The capability to respond with efficiency to a market constantly changing is nowadays a necessity for every manager.

This Master features an innovative curriculum that reflects the dynamic and pervasive nature of management itself. The programme will enhance participants’ knowledge of diverse commercial aspects of hospitality management and provide them with the tools, skills and perspectives necessary to forge their own global hospitality strategies. The Master aims to give its students the most competitive and accurate vision of the sector – that is why all the professors who participate in the MA are already professionals operating in the British market, which is renowned to be the most exciting and fastest-growing area of the world. The teaching approach will be practical and interactive, in order to give students a complete vision of the hospitality sector. Visits to important hotels will also be part of the programme.

As a matter of fact many of the students of previous intakes found a job within 3 months of the end of their training programme.

Master Structure

1. The MA will last 4 or 7 months and will be divided into two terms. There will be a first month of tuition, followed by an internship of a minimum of 3 months up to 6 months. The classes will start in May 2010.

2. The first term of the MA consists of about 180 hours of classes plus 20 hours of individual study. The second term will require, for all the students, at least 500 hours internship during a minimum of 3 month period.

3. The classes are structured as follows:

a. Tourism Marketing and Communication;

b. General Accountancy;

c. Food & Beverage and Sales Management;

d. Reservation;

e. Congress & Events Management;

f. Leadership;

g. Managing and evaluating human resources;

h. Front of the house management;

i. Hospitality Law;

l. Case Histories.

4. Students will be supported throughout the classes for a constant learning and to get prepared to the internship, which will provide valuable experience departing from an on-the-field point of view.

5. Students are provided professional help through aimed coaching by the tutor of the course.

6. Courses are conducted predominantly in English.

7. The internship takes place at the end of the initial tuition period according to the availability of the hosting companies.

8. This course requires full time attendance. The classes will take place from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 13.00 and from 14.00 to 18.00; on Saturday from 9.00 to 13.00. Attendance is compulsory.

Admission & Scholarships

The MA has a maximum closed number of 20 candidates, selected among applicants holding a diploma or a degree. Advantages to be admitted to the MA will be: knowledge of English, IT literacy and availability to relocate both within Italy and abroad.

To apply to the entry test candidates have to pay an administrative fee of £ 35.00 (plus £2.50 bank fees). The administrative fee will be refunded to the students who will participate for the MA. The administrative fee will not be refunded if the candidate decides not to enrol for the MA. In order to apply for the MA, applicants should send the application form, a covering letter in English and an English version of their CV by email to master@italchamind.org.uk The payment should be made by a bank transfer to: Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK – No. 20509450 – Sort Code. 20-36-47 – BIC: BARCG22 – IBAN: GB90BARC20364720509450. To participate in the allocation of the 10 scholarships (valuable £400 plus VAT each) applicants need to send, alongside the above stated documents, an income tax return self-certification. In order to participate in the first turn of selection, applicants need to send the above stated documents by the 20th of February 2010. After this deadline, a first ranking will be drafted and 4 applicants will be granted a partial scholarship. There will be then a second turn of selection for those who have sent their application by the 20th of March 2010 and have not participated in the first selection. After this second deadline, a second ranking will be drafted and other 4 applicants will be granted a partial scholarship. The third turn of selection will be intended for those who have sent their application by the 10th of April 2010 and have not participated in the previous selections. The selection for the scholarships to be granted includes two written tests (general knowledge and English) to be held over the internet. The organisation reserves the right of conducting a further interview in English.

Applicants granted a scholarship will be contacted by the Italian Chamber of Commerce for the UK for the payment details. Applicants judged eligible but not awarded a scholarship will be still entitled to enroll for the MA. The last deadline for the submission of the application is the reaching of the maximum number of participants. Considering that there is a limited number of places, the Italian Chamber of Commerce for the UK reserves the right of accepting or rejecting applications. Because of the limited number of participants, in case of the same outcome of the selection tests, the earliest application will be considered successful.

The successful candidates who will be admitted to the MA should pay a deposit of £ 600 + VAT (17.5%) (not refundable if you decide to not attend the Master any more) to the Italian Chamber of Commerce within 48 hours from receipt of acceptance notice. The rest of the payment should be done within 15 days from receipt of acceptance notice; the payment should be made by a bank transfer to: Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK – No. 20509450 – Sort Code. 20-36-47 – BIC: BARCG22 – IBAN: GB90BARC20364720509450. Please send a receipt of the payment by fax to the Italian Chamber of Commerce. All bank fees have to be paid by the participants.
