On the evening of the 10th of November 2016, on occasion of a gala reception for the 38th Annual Conference of the Chamber of Commerce, which took place on the following day, the Talented Young Italians Award ceremony was held at the prestigious Church House, in Westminster.
The Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK - in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in London and with the patronage of H.E. Pasquale Terracciano, the Italian Ambassador - is delighted to announce that the initiative was greeted with great enthusiasm both by the candidates and their supporters, with around 200 people present at the event.
The award ceremony, at its third edition, was an excellent occasion to praise and acknowledge the achievements of talented young Italians who have succeeded in their endeavour in the UK, keeping at the same time a link with Italy.
A committee of senior representatives evaluated carefully all the applications by using their expertise in different fields, and chose two distinguished individuals for each category. We are pleased to announce this year’s winners:
For Finance and Services, chosen by Rudi Bogni, Chairman, Northill UK:
- Alberto Gallo, Partner and Head of Macro Strategies, Algebris Investments.
- Elena Martellozzo, Criminologist and Senior Lceturer, Middlesex University
For Research and Innovation, Roberto Di Lauro, Scientific Attaché at the Italian Embassy in London, awarded:
- Riccardo Crescenzi, Professor of Economic Geography, London School of Economic
-Ferdinando Rodriguez Y Baena, Professor of Medical Robotics, Department of Mechanical Enginnering, Imperial College London
For Media and Communication, chosen by Marco Niada, Partner RLM Finsbury, former London Bureau Chief of Il Sole 24 Ore:
- Antonio Vanuzzo, Senior Reporter, Debtwire in London
- Antonio Zappulla, Chief Operating Officer, Thomson Reuters Foundation
For Industry and Commerce, Leonardo Simonelli Santi, President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce, chose to award:
- Simone Cimminelli, Managing Director, IStarter
- Elena Mariotti, Manager – Oil & Gas Subject Matter Expert, Accenture
The testimonials of the event were also three inspiring young individuals, present at the ceremony to highlighting the important role young people have always played in every sectors. Massimiliano Mazzanti, The Italian Consul General, gave an introductory speech before the presentation of the awards, and Michele Stangarone, President & CEO, Europe, GE Oil & Gas, and Alberto Costa, Conservative Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire, made congratulatory speeches after the winners were awarded.
During the gala dinner the Keynes Sraffa Awards will also be held. As tradition, this prestigious award, organised in collaboration with the British Chamber of Commerce for Italy, aims to celebrate outstanding Italian and English individuals who epitomise the cooperation between this country and Italy. This year’s winners are Maurizio Bragagni, CEO Tratos UK and Michele Stangarone, President & CEO, Europe, GE Oil & Gas.
